Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)

Your nose is often one of the first things people notice about you and one of the first things you notice about yourself. If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your nose, rhinoplasty can reshape or change the size of your nose to get closer to the look that you desire. Rhinoplasty can also correct birth defects, repair damage from some injuries and relieve some breathing problems.

Rhinoplasty is typically performed on patients ages 14 and older. The procedure involves reshaping the bone and cartilage, and then recovering the reshaped structure with your original skin. A splint will be used to keep the reshapen nose in shape. Swelling and bruising are common, but are typically gone within a few weeks.

Most patients can return to work or school after a week, but will need to avoid certain physical activities for one to two months while healing continues.
